Results – CFFA National Titles 2013

Well the CFFA Nationals have come and gone for another year.  It was great to see all the states and New Zealand come together under the Christian Banner and enjoy making new friendships and re-acquainting with players from previous years.

Overall, WA performed very well as did our Kingsway Players.  Special mention and Congratulations go to John Tawo who was awarded the Golden Gloves award for the U18 boys (best goal keeper in the tournament) and to Karl Mujuru who was awarded the Player of the Tournament for the U16 Boys.  Both of these players were also selected in the All Australian Team for their respective age groups.  We would also like to congratulate John Majok who was also selected in the U18 All Australian Team.

Well done to Russel Seymour, Gary Williams, Patrick Robinson, Paul Bailye, and Tony Fulton for their contribution as coaches and team managers and to all the players from our club that competed in this outstanding event.  You have all done our club very proud!!

Kingsway United Christian FC Vs Wanneroo City – 6th April 2013

The Kingsway United CFC 18’s (Stallions) and 16’s (Colts) boys teams warmed up for the season with Friendly Matches against our Sunday League neighbours Wanneroo City on Saturday 6th April 2013.

The day kicked off with the Stallions taking on the Wanneroo City 1st Division 18’s reserves team.  The game was played at a high standard with both teams showing good touch.  The Stallions, playing the harder brand of Football, got out to a 3 – 1 lead with 20 minutes of the game remaining.  The Stallions were forced down to 10 players from this point due to an injury to one of their players and conceded 2 late goals.  The game finished in a 3 – 3 draw with plenty of positives to take out of the game for Coach Russel Seymour.

The later game saw the Colts take the field for their first competitive game for the season and they wasted no time in seizing control of the game.  The Colts were never troubled as they marched to a 5 Nil lead at half time on the back of some very good team play and dominance in the midfield.  Coach Gary Williams changed the team structure around after half time to try out players in different positions.  The second half, played in very warm conditions was a much tighter affair with a late goal to the Colts sealing a very impressive 6 Nil victory.

Special thanks to Junior President, Dean Bell, from Wanneroo City Soccer Club for helping to arrange the friendly matches and for allowing us to play on the Wanneroo City main pitch.  This was a great day for Kingsway United Christian Football Club and shows that our players can match it well with the Sunday League teams.

Kingsway Colts U16’s Boys – 2012 League & Cup Champions

The U16 Boys, Kingsway Colts, have created history by becoming the first team from our club to take out both the League and Cup Competitions for 2012.  The Grand Final was played on Saturday 15th September 2012 in very warm conditions against the Perth Strikers who finished the regular season in 3rd position.

The game was a tight contest throughout with Kingsway taking the lead mid way through the second half.  The game looked to be theirs until a late corner saw the Strikers equalise with only 90 seconds of play left in regular time.  The game went into extra time and again, Kingsway took the lead which they managed to hold onto for the remainder of the game to take out the Cup Competition.

The club congratulates coaches, Russel Seymour and Gary Williams and Team Manager Brad Stanley, who have worked tirelessly this season and to all the boys on a fantastic season.  Well done to you all!!

2012 CFFA National Titles

Each year WACFA send a group of State Representative Teams to compete in the Australian Christian Football Titles which is run by the Australian Christian Football Federation (CFFA).  This season the titles will be held in Queensland.

This is a fantastic competition where WA Representative teams will play off against teams from the Christian competitions from the other states around Australia.  Age groups are Under 14 Boys, Under 16 Boys, Under 16 Girls, Under 18 Boys, as well as a Men’s and a Women’s Team

Last season, Kingsway United Christian Football Club had 10 players represent WA in the Under 14 Boys and Under 16 Boys age divisions as well as 4 coaches chosen to lead these teams which was a great result for our club.  This season, our Under 16 boys (Kingsway Colts) coaches, Russel Seymour and Gary Williams have again been chosen as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the WA State Under 16 Boys.  Well done to both Russel and Gary on being selected and we wish them both all the best as they attempt to put together a strong squad that will bring the Cup to WA.

The try-outs are due to commence soon.  Players must complete a nomination form to register their interest for the try-outs by 22nd June 2012.  Click Here to download the form and find out more information regarding the try-outs.
